Welcome to The Element School. We are a small, independent school offering a humanitarian, holistic education program for elementary, middle, and high school students in the beautiful Temecula Valley region of Southern California. At The Element School, we create a context for learning that fosters the personal and academic growth, happiness, and success of our students through a unique program centered on the elements of creativity, compassion, connection, and consciousness. We promote a life-long love of learning by giving our students the opportunity to create their own curriculum within a community of inspired, motivated, and passionate learners who enjoy a program centered on the arts and ecology.

The Element School features small-group, multi-age learning with the active involvement of highly-qualified teachers who serve as a facilitators of learning rather than disseminators of knowledge. Through our interdisciplinary integrated arts model, students study themes across all subjects and express their learning in ways that are personally meaningful and relevant. The school culture promotes positive emotional and social literacy skills through the practice of mindfulness, applications of compassionate communication, and involvement in community service-learning projects. Each semester, Resident Artists offer their teaching to students in the areas of visual arts, music, film, dance, theater, and creative writing.

We are thrilled to announce plans to launch our full-time program for the 2015-2016 school year on September 7, 2015. Please join us in our exciting adventure as we bring this model school into fruition this year!

Looks great, Enicia! So exciting to see the acorn about to take root! I have been meaning to ask you, and perhaps now is as good a time as any. How did you come to name your school, “The Element School?”

  2. admin says:

Thanks for asking, David! The name, The Element School, has many dimensions. First, we embrace the idea that all that is required for learning is the presence of elements such as creativity, a resource-rich environment, natural curiosity, and freedom to explore individual interests, and then the “student of life” can create a curriculum for lifelong learning integrating all of these elements according to their unique individuality. It also conveys the idea of “being in your element,” the quality of flow and engagement and love of learning that enriches a person in so many ways. Above all, the primary element is love: love for learning, love for a subject, love for humanity and the natural world. This element, infused in the learning environment, makes learning a whole-hearted process, resulting in “education from the inside-out.”

so excited to hear about this school! My son has been in charter Montessori his whole life and I was dreading having to decide on a high school for him. This seems absolutely perfect for him! I looking forward to hearing more and becoming a part of your community. :)
